faq..

  • What is koolweb2?
  • koolweb2 is all about the latest "web 2.0" sites and how they rank among each other. You the user decide what is kool and what is not. You decide what should be on the list! We believe that our user driven philosophy will ultimately lead to better content and a better user experience.

  • What is web 2.0 and how does one classify a site as being a web 2.0 site?
  • Web 2.0 is a buzzword that was popularized by O'Reilly Media and MediaLive International as the name for a series of web development conferences that started in October 2004. Some of the techniques employed on these sites include the usage of web service APIs, Ajax, syndication, blogs, wikis, css, tags, etc..

The reality is that anything "new" may fall into this category and therefore this is somewhat of a subjective term. However, we would like you the user to make that decision. Here are a few examples of "old" vs. "new" that may help:

  • Are web 2.0 sites "better" than what we have had up until recently?
  • We think so. This is a fundamental paradigm shift in web site design and functionality. The user experience is much richer, more natural, and more productive. There are some technological challenges that still have to be overcome to build and maintain these kinds of applications, but that will and is being solved and the users will win!

  • What if I submit my list rankings multiple times?
  • No problem. Submit them as many times as you like. Your preferences may in fact change over time. We will not filter out your submissions. This is the essence of our user driven list. After all, someone else may submit their rankings multiple times as well.

  • Are there any sites that cannot be added?
  • Our users decide, but sometimes there are some bad apples in the bunch which can ruin it for the rest. We will do our best to never disallow a site; however, we naturally have to protect the integrity of our data.
